Gone to London (to buy a heat magazine)

It's been very hectic the past few weeks... As my title suggests, I am now in London! Here are a few pictures of my new surroundings:

This is my new road.

Have a good day!

Lake District

Keswick

This was the view opposite the campsite we stayed in...

A gorgeous horse. Every time I waved at it, it nodded it's head at me!

It was a cloudless day!

Beautiful place.

My weekend in pictures

Hello all!

Apologies for the lack of update, I have been incredibly busy. I was, however, also busy taking pictures. Here are a few snaps I have taken the past few days:

This pretty candle was on the table at Bader restaurant on Ladypool Road, in Birmingham. It was a nice restaurant - very busy, but with tasty Lebanese food. I felt this image captured the overall ambience of the place - soft lighting and colourful Middle Eastern vibes.

Pink water! Hubby, my brother and sister-in-law and I all went to Alton Towers, a theme park. The grounds were beautiful but it was a bit difficult to capture lots of pictures because we were either queueing up for rides or walking to and from parks (and eating...and avoiding ducks that came really close...)

Buckingham Palace

Green Park lake area

Queen Victoria Memorial
Some pictures from my awesome day in London with my friend, who I have known since we were in nappies. We see each other once a year (if that) but keep in touch all the time and are really close! I had some fun editing these pictures.

BTW - I have got rid of GIMP. My laptop started adjusting the volume and loading apps without me touching them, freaking the hell out of me, but now that I've got rid of it my laptop seems fine! DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT!

I am going to the Lake District with my in laws this coming weekend, uber looking forward to it. I'm taking my dad's Nikon, so watch this space!

Interesting London

As I'm moving down to London with my husband soon, we have spent many a weekend going house/flat hunting. I also had the "pleasure" of pounding the streets, covering many miles (if I give you an exact number you will be shocked), but the upside was that I was able to see some really interesting aspects of London you don't see when you go on the tube. Particularly East London which isn't much on people's tourist maps.

So, first of all, take a look around Greenwich Park. It was a nice sunny day, and I tried to capture a panoramic view of London using my phone. We'd climbed up a rather large hill (I owe my husband lots of hills...) and this was the view on the way down:

You can see Canary Wharf directly in front of you, and City of London on the left.

On a separate trip, I'd like to think, we walked from Bow through Victoria Park and out in Hackney/Shoreditch and on the way to Hoxton on the other side. If you think graffiti spoils the streets, you'd be right. But what shocked me was the amount of amazing artistic detail that went into these 'paintings'.

Sights and delights of East London.

Colour on the street.

Follow the black rabbit?

Toy Story and...other Disney characters?! Who knows...

'Til next time!

Ooh la la!

Can you guess where this building lives? Yeah, stupid question. It's my own picture - I took it on my honeymoon last year <3 (using an iPhone 4s!)

First attempt at editing using GIMP. I just changed the saturation and colour of the image. I applied a lens feature on it too but that made it look silly. Any experts on GIMP out there that wouldn't mind sharing a few tips?

In the day garden

These are just a couple of photographs I took using a Nikon SLR camera (it's very big, clunky and quite complicated to use!). I edited these images using the iPhoto software on my laptop. I am learning how to use other imaging software such as GIMP, so watch this space!

About me

Hello all!

I am a budding photographer and mainly take pictures of anything I see on a day to day basis, be it buildings, nature scenes, people (who I know...) and anything else I see interesting. I am just starting out with photography and am learning as I go along. Photography has fascinated me ever since I took part in a few lessons while I was at school. I've been hooked ever since!

I will try my best to post as often as I can. It'll be more difficult when I start work in September, teaching is a lot more demanding than people think! But watch this space!

Enjoy!
